BS1 05 – Hyperdrive

To meet William’s aggressive sail away plan, some extremely important projects require the boat to be hauled out of the water and placed on the hard (terra firma) in a boat yard to be completed. We can do most of the work ourselves so we need a yard which allows DIY because paying someone else to do this work would be very pricey, and we’d like to avoid that.

Nearby Hazard Marine allows DIY (which is one of the reasons we brought Wind Dragon II to Georgetown), and we have secured a spot on their list for haul out in April so that we can work under the best weather conditions possible. I won’t venture to say how long we expect this work to take lest I jinx it, but we intend to move as quickly as possible and do not wish to spend a lengthy amount of time out of water.

While Wind Dragon II is on the hard we’ll be flexing our multi-tasking muscles and also splitting our focus onto what currently feels like hundreds of little extremely important tasks, all at once. The next stage actually contains several things which all sort of rely on each other even though they don’t have to occur consecutively, but their timing is important so I’m just going to group everything neatly under the reference header of relocation. This means both the relocation of the boat after her yard time is finished and she’s put back in the water, and the relocation of us, physically.

Whether it’s due to the pandemic, the job market, the housing market, the political climate or whatever else is going on in the world, our plan remains the same – however the aforementioned influences have recently afforded us the opportunity to speed up the timing of certain aspects a little bit more than we had anticipated. Relocating the boat was always in sight, however relocating us at the same time took us by surprise as we revealed in our first Sailing Wind Dragon YouTube channel video release which is located here.

So yeah, things have escalated quickly into hyperdrive! I hope if you’re following my blog, that you subscribe to our YouTube channel, give us a thumbs up on the video, and hit the notification bell so you’ll know when we post new videos! Hint: I’ve taken over as behind the scenes Director, so William will be forced to release new content regularly. Feel free to share with your family, friends, and neighbors as well!

Look for another new video coming soon where we’ll tour Wind Dragon II and reveal exactly where we are with our interior refit (and possibly see some work in progress), along with more about what’s to come! We encourage everyone to join us virtually and follow along as we embark on this newest part of our journey, because with us as you’ll see, life is always an adventure!

Until next time, fair winds!
