Exterior Window Screens – In Progress

On a Catalac 10M the Port and Starboard side windows of the Saloon coach roof slide backwards and open halfway. Screens are necessary to keep out pests.

Disclaimer: My posts are not intended as tutorials. I have a habit of doing things my own way, for my own reasons. Mostly because I’m stubborn, thrifty, and crafty.

I had watched a tutorial on Sailrite for a similar project which I believed I could easily modify for my exterior side window screens using some pre-purchased pet friendly screen I had, and as a bonus my catamaran also has the male snap pieces already installed in place like the boat being fitted in the online tutorial, which assisted me with how to best align the patterning materials. In the future I will re-make the wind screens using the proper materials.

I patterned both port and starboard exterior coach windows, with full photo documentary of substituted supplies used and how the process was turning out, just days before I busted my cell phone beyond all repair and had to get a replacement. Naturally, I hadn’t backed up my photos yet, and I lost everything. So, without photos of the templating, and patterning, here’s the rest of the project and how it’s coming along:
